Jimmy Yeary

Raised in the cornfield community of Hillsboro, Ohio, from the early age of 8, Jimmy Yeary began singing in churches with his family. This became a way of life as well as income for the family. Jimmy played 200 plus dates a year singing Southern gospel music, which is still some of his favorite music today, until his junior year in high school at which time he became interested in baseball.

"I dreamed of one day becoming a professional ballplayer," says Jimmy, "After a season ending injury my senior year of high school, I quickly focused my attention whole heartedly on music." Discovering that music was his passion, Jimmy dreamed of one day singing and writing songs in Nashville. Jimmy moved to Virginia when he graduated high school and met and played with some of Nashville's finest musicians. In 1994 Jimmy made the move to Music City where he was offered two artist developmental deals from record labels. This ultimately led to a full record deal on Atlantic Records. According to Jimmy, "A single was ready for radio when the label underwent a corporate staff change and the new regime decided not to move forward with my project." "At that moment, I knew that songwriting was going to be my main focus."

Soon thereafter, Jimmy met Paul Worley through Wally Wilson, who had been one of his producers, along with Tom Shapiro, while he was on Atlantic Records. Jimmy began writing for Wally and Paul's publishing company, Skyline Music Publishing where his songs were recorded by such artists as Rascal Flatts, John Michael Montgomery, Craig Morgan, Brooks & Dunn & Steve Holy. During his tenure at Skyline Music Publishing, Jimmy penned such hits as "In Another World" by Joe Diffie, "No Shame" by Jeff Bates & "Country Thang" by John Michael Montgomery and continued playing guitar and singing on the road with various major recording artists. "I have learned so much from Paul and Wally's vast knowledge of music and continue to keep learning more about the art of songwriting every day" says Jimmy, "I look forward to a future of continuing to do what I love."

In 2006, Jimmy became Blacktop Music Group, Inc.'s newest writer. According to Mike Sebastian, Vice President and General Manager of Blacktop Music Group, Inc. "Jimmy is the not only the consummate professional, but an extremely talented writer who has the ability to turn real life situations into hit songs via his incredible melodies and picturesque lyrics." "The relationship between Jimmy and Blacktop will be a very successful one."
