Rhean Boyer

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rhean Boyer was raised in a musical family. At the young age of six, he received his first guitar. It was a red, plastic electric guitar with plastic strings, on which he learned to play The Little Drummer Boy on only one string. From there on out, he taught himself to play guitar by listening to his family play blue-grass and by listening to such artist as Flatt & Scruggs, Mack Wiseman, Alabama, The Eagles, Elvis and many others.

Being a teenager in the 80's, of course he had a garage band in high school, listened to Run DMC, among others, and spent some time break-dancing. After a few years of soul searching, he found his way home to the biggest influence in his life, his brother, and radio personality "Hoss" Burns, who was living in Nashville at the time. Hoss introduced him to many reputable people in Nashville's music industry and helped him begin down the path that is now his life.

As many Nashville writers do, Rhean began playing his songs at local Nashville joints. He signed his first publishing deal with Penny Belden. About two years later, he found himself writing for producer and publisher, Robert Ellis Orall and they continued to work together for the next four years. Meanwhile, as Rhean was beginning his writing career, he had also been working security at Belmont University, where he interview future pal and band-mate, Marvin Evatt for a job. While they worked security, they often found themselves writing songs together, the first of which was called Carolina Rain, unbeknownst to them that that would be the name of their future band. They completed the band with a fellow church choir member Jeremy Baxter. The three of them knew after playing together for just a short while that together they were destined.

Rhean is now writing for Blacktop Music Group, Inc., writing with such incredible writers as Tommy Conners, Marty Dodson, Ron Harbin, Stewart Harris, Gary Loyd, Richie McDonald, Robert Ellis Orall, and many others. In addition, Carolina Rain has recently joined the team at Equity Records, released their debut single co-written by Rhean, "I Ain't Scared", looks forward to their follow up single, also co-written by Rhean, "Louisiana Love", and looks to release their first album this year.
